Firmware 3.00, 'hopefully' released soon

Now, as im sure many of you may have seen, there were pictures flying about the psp community around E3 about the realise of the 'almighty' psp firmware 3.00. The estimated release date was October, and im being very optimistic in hoping that it will be coming out soon.

Contrary to this, there have been rumours flying around that 3.00 won't be released until the PS3 is available in Japan, as 3.00 is quite heavily based around PS3-PSP connectivity (apparently, some of the core files for this connectivity were slyly put in firmware 2.80) so we may not even see it until mid-November.

I personally can not wait for 3.00 as i was always a big fan of PS1 games and the PS1 emulation should, theroetically, be perfect (let's face it, we were all impressed when Kaz played Ridge Racer 1 at E3 on the psp), so here's hoping that it shall be released REAL soon, as the community may expand further due to the additional capabilites being crammed into 3.00 *hype begins*

etc.

Personally I might consider buying a used PSP to upgrade to 3.0, because I refuse to give up my 1.5

i dnt think us 1.5 users will upgrade to 3.0 because devhook might be able to emulate this fw and i wudnt giv up all the homebrew for a ps1 emulator

Who really cares when its released...If it was any other company releasing it..maybe. But its Sony. They lie. Like everyday. So with them, you kind of just have to not care about anything until it happens. I mean wasnt the GPS supposed to be released in September? I havent seen it on any store shelf...

So we can continue talking about it, but for all we know the Emulator and all that stuff will be delayed until Spring 2007 for some stupid reason...Lets not give Sony anymore credit then they need.

doesn't psp alreay have a ridge racer game?

wait...and a ridge racer 2?
so why would i pay $10 for a game i can buy for $20 that was made to play on the psp?

a year ago,people might have cared,but now it just completely underminds all the psp games out there or being released if Sony feels they need to resort to bringing out "classics" to lure in customers.


btw if only sony brings out thier games for the ps1, we're all screwed since all of Son'y 1st part games stink something awful...

i will not upgrade til Jumping Flash is out

No one is goin to upgrade. 1.5 is best. And intill dev hook fw2.81 comes out dont hold ur breath for 3.0.

why would you want a new higher fw to come out sooner? i would like just all of the new games to keep coming out for 2.71 fw. why be anxious for something that can only have negative effects on the device that we all so dearly love? were you smoking a drug when you decided to post this?

no i dont smoke anything, let alone drugs. I want the newer firmware because in my opinion homebrew is pointless. I know that practically everyone on here loves it, but i dont, and thats my opinion which im entitaled to.

Im pretty sure sony will be putting extra security on this one, just to make it even harder on all the hackers trying to crack firmwares at the moment, and that might just stop people using homebrew for the newer features/games they bought that require 3.00

If version 3.00 comes out, maybe we can see if someone like BOOSTER (if he's still out there) can get it to work on the next version of Device Hook. I'm sure it will be so much harder to crack as Sony always tries to come up with ways to block homebrew software from running. However, it will get cracked just like FW 2.71 and even 2.81 can be decryped with the 2.80 PSAR Dumper.
