More info on the Chotto (PSP camera)

ABK_Lotus Pod has just posted some pretty cool images on his newly recieved Chotto (PSP Camera).


BOTH TAKEN WITH THE CHOTTO





As you can see from these pictures, the quality of the images is very good. Since the screen is only 480x272 1.3 megapixels is all that is needed for good picture taking quality.

What We Know:
-The UMD comes with 2.82 update, but only requires 2.8
-The UMD disc is required to take images or video
-Images takes are sent to PSP/Photo/CHOTTO_SHOT/
-There seems to be 2 settings for taking pictures, indoors and outdoors
-Videos are takes in BHC format, but you can convert then to AVI.
-Once in AVI they are sent to PSP/Video/CHOTTO_SHOT/
-You can only take 15 second videos, but they have good audio and sound.
-The Photo Editting UMD allows you to add effects to the pictures "such as Bars (to give the effect your in prison:smileyvery-happy, Flames, Stars, etc, etc. And to say stuff like happy birthday and such, You get the picture."

-Software manual (All Japanease), First Step Guide(All Japanease), and the Camera Attachment Instructions (Section for English)

The Chotto software runs perfectly on Devhook on a 1.50 system, it does NOT require 2.80.

The stupid thing is still limited to 640x480 max rez, and that's not 1.3mp, that's 0.3mp regardless of Sony's claims to the contrary.

Why bother limiting it at all?

Makes no sense.

I'm sure there will be a work-around for that... as long as the dump will work with the camera, someone might be able to come up with a workaround (look at motorola cell phones)

once again, your wrong...

why would sony continue to release umds that dont force software upgrades? so people like us can easily run them?

check your devhook settings.. i guarentee.. it has the UMD SETTING 2.00 - 2.XX enabled which is the only reason why its working for you.

native 1.5 systems wont run the umd.

all of sonys games coming out WILL REQUIRE 2.8. but can be avoided using devhook 2.00 - 2.xx

I think that's what he meant. "Devhook on 1.5" He just needed to be more specific.

I think it will work on 2.71 (emulated via devhook) same way like GTA:VCS did.
