LAW

I would like to thank hey u at the Sony official forums for this little piece of info. He pointed out that when you update, you are agreeing to a contract, since minors can have a binding legal document this means the update agreement is not valid. He also pointed out that if a minnor updated he should be able to have his PSP restored to the origanal conditions (1.5 or 2.6 with a new motherboard) He also stated that a court could claim that a person who updated was not a minor since there was no evidence. If anybody feels like testing the system make a video of yourslef update to a new firmware and show some kinda of identification (student ID, library card, drivers licease, etc).

"A minor is someone under the age of 18 years according to the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Act (No 1 of 2002) . This is called the age of majority. The age of majority was reduced from 21 to 18 years by this Act. A minor who enters into a contract without the consent of the parents or guardian does not have to keep to the contract. But, if the minor says he or she is older than 21, then the person who entered into the contract with the minor can sue for damages."

 2.  » Not so sure

Not sure about that.
I'm a lawyer in Quebec, and im not used to U.S. laws or any other foreigns laws, but one thing im pretty sure of is that you need to prove the prejudice caused by upgrading. The contract wont be nil just because you're underage, otherwise, any kids buying candies could go back to the store to be reimburse, each time they take the bus or the subway, etc etc.
Here in Quebec, minors can contract legal obligations, but the judicial review will be more open to cancel the contract on a subjetcive basis, rather than an objective basis for adults.
Just my though, but like I said, im not an american lawyer !
