All of you people know about the 2.80 downgrader(TA-079~81) by 0okm?

He is asking for the number of people requesting for a NEW downgrader!

A downgrader from 2.80 to 2.71! A high probability of downgrading a TA-082!

Come on! Need the downgrader?! Head to his website and give him your support!

Want 0okm to make your day? Then hurry down to his website!

Ó

Dark_AleX just released an update to the custom firmware 2.71 SE. However the new revision C does not include most of the promised features.

Here are the features:

- Loading plugins from the ms:
Plugins from the ms are loaded from the folder ms0:/seplugins
You need to write two text files inside that folder: game.txt and vsh.txt
These files have a module path in each line to load with umd games/homebrew and with the vsh
respectively. A maximum of 5 modules is allowed in each one.
Once the files game.txt and vsh.txt are created, you can enable/disable each plugin in the recovery menu.
Note that if you have too many modules loading, the xmb or the game may not start because of lack of memory.

A usbhostfs plugin for SE is planed in the near future.

- speed change:
It has not been implemented in SE yet because it was causing weirds problems at the moment in which
the speed change was done. Probably it will be implemented in the future on other way...

At the momento you can use one of those plugins that before were installed on flash and that now
can be installed in the ms.

So, basically the only new feature is "loading plugins from MS", the rest will (hopefully) be in future revisions.

Ó

Now, as we all know it, firmware 1.5 has been revered for a long time. Much longer than 1.0. Now, what makes this firmware, so holy? For starters, DEVHOOK. With DEVHOOK, we could emulate up to the 2.71 NAND. That is just amazing, isn't it? You had the homebrew and kernel capabilities of a 1.5, and yet, also have the browser and RSS of 2.71. It could also be customized...Customized how you say? Well, with my favorite, safest, and the best homebrew program to use to customize a 1.5 PSP is X-FLASH. Here are some things that can be changed, safely:

  • Bootsound
  • Remove SCE logo
  • Gameboot
  • Font
  • Background
  • Menu Names
  • Disable Network Update
  • Change Firmware number (Even to 1337!)
  • AND MORE!

And there's even custom firmware! By many others, like harleyg, LordSturm, XxPSPMADxX, etc. But remember, Dark_Alex was the main man who CREATED the custom firmware. Now, if the PSP has all this, then why did I, and others upgrade? Because of the many benefits 2.71 SE has to offer! Let me list some:

  • Official SONY eboots do NOT work (No more "Accidental UPDATING")
  • The benefits of 1.5 and 2.71 on the PSP NAND
    • This allows you to use DEVHOOK directly from your PSP NAND, thus allowing to free your memory stick of some much needed memory
  • The ability to downgrade
  • The ability to recover your PSP
    • Recovery mode uses the 1.5 kernel, so even if the 2.71 kernel is damaged, your PSP can still be recovered! This is much better than 1.5 recovery mode!
  • You can do limited customization of this firmware:
    • Gameboot
    • Backgrounds (01.BMP....12.BMP)
    • Font
Now, its up to you to choose, which firmware is right for you!

Ó

Now, here it is. Mathieulh has released some details over IRC on what to expect in the next revision of 2.71 SE!

  • Built in iso launcher (DAX support)(maybe CSO as well)(NO UMD!!!!!!)
  • Problematic game fix, they have already found the problem and it will be fixed in the next version.

Now, doesn't that look awesome? Well, lets look deeper into this... QJ.NET doesn't support ISOS AT ALL. But, look at this, DAX support with NO UMD? We may have some legality issues over at QJ.

And updating the 2.71 SE, would it be done by the recovery menu, through advanced options? (As timboman2000 at MPH forums said) or through the already given RECOVERY option that came with the 2.71 SE-A. (As I think so)

Now, these features MAY or MAY NOT make it (although I think it has already been implemented!), also, there may be more features too!

I only expect the BEST from Dark_Alex, so please, show your support for Dark_Alex in the comments section!
