Is that it then from Sony on the PSP? It seems to be since the fact that we are hardly seeing any future firmware updates and the fact that they are doing nothing to stop homebrew.

So what was the last update? I think it was 3.95, many of us are waiting for the big number 4.0 but when will it be released....after a long time. Then there is the features in the updates, when was the last time we saw a good worthwile feature. It was Skype and that was only available to PSP Slim users, although homebrew developer Fanjita has been working on something called Furikup which seems to be showing no sign of future updates. EDIT: Forgot to mention that Custom Firmware, what do you think Dark_Alex should do, in my opinion he should start developing his own firmware based off Sony's firmware. But then again you would get people complaining that it will never come out and it has many bugs etc.

What is Sony doing to stop homebrew on PSP, not much. As newer PSP models come out they have newer revised motherboards to stop the making of Pandora batteries and such but that is the only thing which they are doing to stop homebrew. I am not being anti-homebrew here but the fact that Custom Firmware is sooo much better and has much more benefits, many reasons why people buy PSP's are for homebrew and the flexibility of it.

Well, that's the end of my first May article.

A new release of the Ultimate Pandora Memory Stick has been released today.

Release 3 adds the following to the new features to the UPMS Project:

Added new option to the Firmware Menu.
Clean Memory Stick for Fresh Install

If you already have either a Pandora or UPMS stick that is working, you can now choose to clean the stick and do a fresh install either as an upgrade or because you want to without having to write the IPL to the stick again or install the fatms371.prx

The UPMS Project delivers a fantastic way to install Dark Alex's Time Machine 0.1 on your Pandora Stick, while still running DC3, DC4, Hell Cat's Menu (Extended Pandora's Menu) and Joker's Menu. Allowing you to install 3.80 M33-5, 3.71 M33-2, 3.52 M33 and even 1.50 straight from 1 Stick all to the flash, or using Time Machine you can boot to 1.50, 3.40 OE, and 1.50 for Slims from the stick instead of the flash. UPMS Project also gives you many must have homebrew programs from PSPFiler to Red Squarell's PSar Dumper, and much more!

Directly copied from UPMS website released on 2-23-08

Latest version of our Pandora easy installer.

Additions include:
More checking and visual notification of installing fatmsmod.

Backing up of PSP's original config.bin files to flash1 so you can easily restore your PSP after installing fatms371.

Added Dark_AleX's TimeMachine to the Utilities Menu.
(Installer don't install TimeMachine directly, so you will still need to edit the created config.txt file)

Now lets the end user choose the default folder to boot after installation.

No need for UPDATE.PBP unless you want to install 1.50 from either Pandora Boot Menu or Pandora Extended Menu. You can now press 0 to ignore the UPDATE.PBP not found message.

Bug Fix:
Fixed a bug where the installer wouldn't install after letting the installer copy the 150.PBP file to UPDATE.PBP

I think Dark_Alex has done an outstanding job in making these OE firmwares, but like most things theres still room for improvement.

I think the Playstation emulation hack should now be left as I can't really see any room for improvement, heres what I think should be changed,

Video: 480x272 videos should be playable from the "mso:VIDEO" folder, just to make copying and viewing easier instead of having these huge filenames like "10000MAQ.MP4" it makes no sense! and im sure could easily be changed. Also .avi support of all resolutions would be nice but lets not walk before we can crawl.

Music: Not using the PSP as a music player im not to sure what could be improved.

Pictures: Again not to sure about this, I would like to see a port for the camera plugin to let people plug there web cams or other things. But that is not an essential.

Settings: There should be some OE settings added to the settings tab this would make it a lot easier I think.

PSP In General: A file reanamer put in the same place you see "Play", "Delete" and "Information" this would great! and also, a file browser in the XMB, im not sure if this is possible in this stage in time but if it is! I would love to use it more instead of having to plug my USB cable in every minute. Thanks for reading this, it was my first blog here at QJ.net!

Well, we all knew it was gonna happen sooner or later and Dark_AleX does not disappoint. But rather than have me prattle on, I'll let D_A himself do the talking -

Dark_AleX -

There is a problem with the application.

The iso header offset currently MUST BE 0x50000, since one of the functions of popcorn that replaces a popsman function (to allow decrpted headers) will search the postheader at 0x50400, where are data needed by pops.prx.

I've seen than the appplication does not always generate the data there, and this could cause the generated pbp not to work properly.
In fact, this was one of the reasons of popstation to not allow big images.

Anyways this will be fixed in popcorn.prx of 3.03 OE-A by searching the iso offset in the pbp header, but currently in 3.02OE-B, isos whose header are not at 0x50000 cannot be guaranteed to work.
In fact they could work depending of the luck of the values of the data that are at offset 0x50400+.

No need to change nothing in the app anyways, since i may start working in 3.03 OE tomorrow, and it should be ready next day.

I for one am going to update to this the minute it is out (or the minute Anubis adds a tutorial for it lol), as I have been experiencing some graphical problems with Tekken 3 which should be fixed with 3.03 as the update featured some bugs in the emulator fixed. Now to play the waiting game...
