Ó

Many of you have been graced by Lick's ability at producing ingenious homebrew, (examples include LoveLight and the libcartreset libraries) and he has released an update to the popular homebrew app, DSLiveWeather. For those who dont know, DSLiveWeather is a simple application that will check the weather in your area, as well provide you a plethora of other information. It can also fetch forecast information from the weather.com site..

I'm sure you've just skipped paragraph, so I'll jump to the chase m'kay? To install this app, go grab it from Lick's site (click here ), and follow the simple instructions below. This build of DSLiveWeather is patched using DLDI, so should work with most flashcarts out there. Anyways, the instructions:

  1. Download DSLiveWeather (doh!)
  2. Unzip it, and place it on your flashcart.
  3. Make sure to create a folder called DSLiveWeather on the root of your memory stick, otherwise you will not be able to save profiles, reports and forecasts.. Which is a pain in the backside to be honest.
  4. Launch up your DS, browse to the DSLiveWeather file, and launch it.
  5. Now, the all important part. In order to find your weather.com Location ID, goto weather.com, at the top will be a search box (Has Enter zip or US/Intl city) Simply type in your town/city, and you'll be brought to your relevant page.
  6. Look at your address bar now, at the end of the URL should be somesort of a code after the /local/ bit.. (Eg: USDC0001) That is your Location ID, now simply type this into the Location ID box on DSLiveWeather, and your done.
  7. Give your profile a name (Eg: My Town) then press the START button on your DS. Providing you followed the earlier instructions properly, (like actually making that DSLiveWeather folder that I asked in bold) all your details should now be saved.
  8. Use your stylus/finger/thumb to press the currently tab on the bottom screen. There will be two little icons. A smile face (which probably isnt smiling right now) and a grey icon below it. Press on the smile face, and this should initiate your wireless connection to your access point. If you cant connect, I suggest you have a look at your wireless configuration settings. (Launch a game which supports wireless play, and go into wifi settings)
  9. Once you are connected to your router/access point, the smile face will actually smile now. Press the tick icon below to retrieve your weather information. Hopefully if you typed in a correct weather.com Location ID, then the tick icon will turn green, and you'll have your weather information! Tada :D
Apologies if this was somewhat excessively noob-ish, but I'm aiming to the majority of our DS audience. Anyways, the following instructions were tested on a ds lite with supercard lite.. Glad this helps :)

P.S - I am not the developer, therefore I do not provide support for his app. Also, please dont simply swamp Lick with questions that can be easily answered by the wonderfull QJ staff over at the forums. (Make sure you post in the correct section, and follow the rules, otherwise iBall will bite your head off) However, if you're problem is of a serious nature (such as a major bug or flaw in the system, or an incompatibility with your flashcart) you go ahead and give Lick a shout. Make sure to be as descriptive as possible, indicating how you got the error, the hardware you are using, and how the error can be reproduced by Lick, so that he can try to fix the error in the next version of DSLiveWeather)
